香港電影金像奬協會（大會）今日（23日）發放榮獲提名第四十一屆香港電影金像奬「最佳導演」及「新晉導演」獎候選人的獨立造型照。
本屆「最佳導演」最後五強包括執導驚悚犯罪動作片《神探大戰》的韋家輝、紀錄片《給十九歲的我》的張婉婷與郭偉倫、律政懸疑犯罪片《正義迴廊》的何爵天、劇情片《窄路微塵》的林森及喜劇《飯戲攻心》的陳詠燊;而何爵天、林森及陳詠燊同告入圍本屆「新晉導演」獎候選人之列，他們將連同執導另一劇情片《白日青春》的劉國瑞及科幻動作片《明日戰記》的吳炫輝角逐此項殊榮。
無獨有偶，本屆幾位「最佳導演」候選人均不只獲得一項提名，當中陳詠燊更是本屆香港電影金像奬獲得最多提名的候選人，除了憑《飯戲攻心》競逐「最佳導演」、「最佳編劇」和「新晉導演」三大獎項，由他填詞的《飯戲攻心》電影主題曲亦獲得「最佳原創電影歌曲」提名;韋家輝及劉國瑞分別自編自導《神探大戰》及《白日青春》而成為「最佳編劇」候選人；郭偉倫則以剪輯拍攝期長達十年的紀錄片《給十九歲的我》,與陳序慶同時獲提名「最佳剪接」。
韋家輝曾兩次榮膺香港電影金像奬「最佳編劇」，但過去四度與杜琪峰聯合導演獲得「最佳導演」提名卻與獎項擦身而過。他今年憑執導《神探大戰》已先後獲得「香港電影評論學會」及「香港電影導演會年度大獎」選為「最佳導演」，下一個目標是在「香港電影金像奬」拿下其首個「最佳導演」獎座。
從事視覺效果師多年的吳炫輝曾三度登上「金像奬」頒獎台，分別在第廿六、廿七及廿九屆榮獲「最佳視覺效果」獎。多年後他轉任導演即取得亮麗成績，其首部電影《明日戰記》錄得八千多萬票房，是去年2022年票房冠軍，也是港產片有史以來第二高票房的電影。

Hong Kong Film Awards Association (HKFAA) released today the styling portraits of the award nominees for the 41st Hong Kong Film Awards, including “Best Director” and “Best New Director” categories.
The top five nominees for “Best Director” of this year include WAI Ka Fai for the suspense thriller action film Detective Vs. Sleuths, Mabel CHEUNG and William KWOK for the documentary To My Nineteen-Year-Old-Self, HO Cheuk Tin for the crime thriller film The Sparring Partner, LAM Sum for The Narrow Road and Sunny CHAN for the comedy Table for Six. HO Cheuk Tin, LAM Sum and Sunny CHAN have also entered into rivalry simultaneously with the other two competitors, namely LAU Kok Rui, the director of The Sunny Side of the Street and NG Yuen Fai, the director of science fiction action film Warriors of the Future, running for the “Best New Director” award.
Coincidentally, every nominee for the “Best Director” award this year has received multiple nominations. Sunny CHAN receives the most nominations at this year’s Awards. He is nominated for his film Table for Six for three main categories including “Best Director”, “Best Screenplay” and “Best New Director”, as well as for the “Best Original Film Song” as the lyricist of the theme song. WAI Ka Fai and LAU Kwok Rui are shortlisted for the “Best Screenplay” category for their self-directed films Detective Vs. Sleuths and The Sunny Side of the Street, respectively; while William KWOK is also nominated for “Best Film Editing” jointly with Nose CHAN for the documentary To My Nineteen-Year-Old-Self, which has taken ten years long to film.
WAI Ka Fai is the two-time “Best Screenplay” awardee of Hong Kong Film Awards and has been nominated “Best Director” jointly with Johnnie TO for their co-directed films four times. This year, WAI Ka Fai has already bagged the “Best Director” awards from both The Hong Kong Film Critics Society and Hong Kong Film Directors’ Guild for directing Detective Vs. Sleuths. Moving forward, he aspires to winning his debut “Best Director” award at the Hong Kong Film Awards.
Veteran visual effects artist NG Yuen Fai has been staged three times for winning the “Best Visual Effects” award at the 26th, 27th and 29th Hong Kong Film Awards. Years after, he has achieved resounding success as a director for his debut film Warriors of the Future delivering top-grossing box office over 80 million dollars, which is the second record high Hong Kong film of all time.
