香港電影金像奬協會（大會）今日（6日）宣布「第四十二屆香港電影金像奬」頒獎典禮訂於2024年4月14日(星期日)晚上假香港文化中心隆重舉行。去年首度移往香港文化中心海濱長廊大樓梯外舉行的典禮前奏「紅地氈」口碑載道，今年將再次在此舉行，屆時中外影壇名人將在維多利亞港的美景襯托下亮相。

今日記者會的焦點為公布「第四十二屆香港電影金像奬」十九個獎項的提名名單（見附頁）。大會邀得「第四十屆香港電影金像奬最佳女配角」廖子妤、曾榮獲提名「香港電影金像奬最佳新演員」的劉俊謙及周漢寧，以及影壇生力軍吳冰任特別嘉賓，揭曉各大獎項的提名名單。

「香港電影金像奬」自1982年舉辦首屆頒獎典禮至今四十多年，是香港歷史最悠久、規模最大並最具代表性的國際華語影壇盛事。香港電影金像奬協會主席爾冬陞在記者會上致辭時表示：「金像奬協會每年舉行頒獎典禮是本地電影業界藉以表揚在過去一年有傑出表現的同業精英。隨著香港社會去年復常，全港戲院恢復全面營業後，更多影片得以上映，2023年度符合資格參選『第四十二屆香港電影金像奬』的港產片共有50部，對比2022年僅得33部參選電影，增幅高達五成；而這50部參選作品當中有不同戲種及題材，有不少是由新晉導演執導、新生代演員及新偶像擔綱演出，吸引廣大觀眾重新入場支持，十大最高票房的港產片均有逾千萬元收入，叫好叫座，而排行首位的電影更創出香港電影史上首部突破一億港元票房紀錄，成績令人鼓舞。」爾主席在記者會上同時公布「第四十二屆香港電影金像奬」第一輪評選的投票經會計師核實票數後，投票率為63.23%，在疫情後創新高。他代表大會感謝「第一輪專業評審團」和「香港電影金像奬選民」積極參與，並呼籲各位第二輪投票人鼎力支持。

大會同場公布早前舉行的「第四十二屆香港電影金像奬學生海報設計比賽」的結果及頒獎予各得獎者。三甲作品由香港設計師協會副會長高少康及執行委員葉素文，以及香港電影美術學會執行委員張蚊及戴文銳共同選出，冠軍莫迪珈、亞軍馬昀佑及季軍鄭宇彤均為香港理工大學學生。今日記者會中由「第四十二屆香港電影金像奬」美術總監文念中與評審葉素文、張蚊及戴文銳頒發獎座及現金禮券予三甲得主，並展出各得獎作品供來賓欣賞。

大會於記者會上特別鳴謝「創意香港」及「電影發展基金」資助今年頒獎典禮盛大舉行與撥款港幣十萬元贈予「新晉導演」獎項得主，並感謝「康樂及文化事務署」提供場地贊助及各大贊助單位和合作伙伴的鼎力支持。香港電視娛樂 有限公司及MakerVille繼續成為本屆香港電影金像奬大會指定電視台及電視製作伙伴，將在ViuTV 99台全程直播「紅地氈」盛況及頒獎典禮。星加坡及馬來西亞的影迷屆時亦可同步收看到「第四十二屆香港電影金像奬」——星加坡付費電視平台Singtel TV的CM+ 及StarHub TV+ 旗下的Hub E City，以及馬來西亞付費電視平台Astro及Unifi TV的天映頻道（Celestial Movies）均會直播紅地毯及頒獎典禮盛況。

Hong Kong Film Awards Association (HKFAA) today announced that the 42nd Hong Kong Film Awards presentation ceremony will be grandly held in the evening of 14th April 2024 at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Following its highly acclaimed debut at the Harbourfront Grand Staircase of the Piazza of the Hong Kong Culture Centre last year, the prelude of the gala, the “Red Carpet” will be held at this esteemed location again this year. Distinguished film celebrities, local and international alike, will grace the occasion with their presence at the venue set against a splendid background of the magnificent view of the Victoria Harbour.

The highlight of today’s press conference is the announcement of the nomination list for 19 categories of the 42nd Hong Kong Film Awards (appendix attached). Fish LIEW, awardee of the “Best Supporting Actress” at the 40th Hong Kong Film Awards; LAU Chun Him and Henick CHOU, previous nominees for the “Best New Performer”; as well as promising new talent Sabrina NG were invited as special guests to jointly unveil the nomination list for all awards.

The Hong Kong Film Awards which held its inaugural ceremony in 1982 span a history of over four decades. The awards pride itself as the most long-standing, largest in scale and most iconic international Chinese language film gala event in Hong Kong. HKFAA Chairman Derek YEE Tung Sing said in his speech at the press conference, “The annual Hong Kong Film Awards Presentation Ceremony, organized by HKFAA, aims to recognize the outstanding achievements of local film industry fellows in the past year. With the return to normalcy in the Hong Kong society last year and the full reopening of cinemas across the city, more films were able to be screened. In 2023, a total of 50 films are eligible for contending in the 42nd Hong Kong Film Awards, marking a significant increase of 50 percent, compared to 33 films in 2022. These 50 nominated films cover a diverse range of genres and themes, many of which are produced by emerging directors, and starring young actors and new idols. These films have successfully attracted a wider audience to return to the cinemas and garnered enthusiastic support. The ten highest-grossing local films have all yielded encouraging results with both good audience feedback and handsome box records of over ten million Hong Kong dollars earnings. The film that topped number one even broke the box office record with over 100 million Hong Kong dollars, marking a truly remarkable accomplishment in the history of Hong Kong cinema.” Chairman YEE also announced that, after auditing the votes in the first round of voting for the 42nd Hong Kong Film Awards, the voters’ turnout rate was 63.23%, representing a new high since the outbreak of the pandemic. On behalf of HKFAA, he expressed gratitude to the judges of the first-round polling and voters of the Hong Kong Film Award for their active participation. He also appealed to all voters of the second round to show their strong support.

Results of “The 42nd Hong Kong Film Awards Student Poster Design Competition” were also announced and the trophies were presented to the winners in the press conference. The champion MOK Dick Ka; the first runner-up MA Kwan Yau, Horace; and the second runner-up CHENG Yu Tung are all from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The three winning entries were selected by judges of the competition, comprising Hong KO, Vice President and Kristie IP, Executive Committee Member of the Hong Kong Designers Association; Irving CHEUNG and Diamond TAI, Executive Committee Members of the Hong Kong Film Arts Association. During today’s press conference, the Art Director of the 42nd Hong Kong Film Awards, MAN Lim Chung, along with judges Kristie IP, Irving CHEUNG and Diamond TAI presented the trophies and cash coupons to the winners. The winning entries were also displayed at the venue today.

The HKFAA expressed their gratitude to ‘Create Hong Kong’ and the ‘Film Development Fund’ for their monetary sponsorship to the award ceremony this year, and a cash prize of HK$100,000 to the winner of ‘Best New Director’. HKFAA also thanked venue sponsor the ‘Leisure and Cultural Services Department’, as well as all sponsors and partners for rendering tremendous support to the event. HK Television Entertainment Company Limited (ViuTV) will continue to be the official TV Broadcaster and TV Production Partner to live-broadcast the 42nd Hong Kong Film Awards Red Carpet event and the presentation ceremony on its free-to-air ViuTV Channel No. 99. Audiences in Singapore and Malaysia will be able to watch the live broadcast of the 42nd Hong Kong Film Awards including "Red Carpet" via the pay television platforms in both countries. In Singapore, the live broadcast will be aired on CM+ on Singtel TV and Hub E City on StarHub TV+; while in Malaysia, the live broadcast is on Celestial Movies, available on both Astro and Unifi TV.
